State Sen. Terri Bryant attended the Ewing Agronomy Field Day on a beautiful morning on July 28th, 2022. SCAPES Extension Thrust Leader Dennis Bowman shared news regarding the field of agrivoltaics to highlight the importance of public agricultural research and demonstration centers.

The SCAPES project has been mentioned as a promising solution to reduce competition for land by allowing crops to include solar panels. And there are hopes for program expansion, as mentioned by Commercial Agriculture Extension educator Talon Becker.

“We have to be more efficient always for our growing population and keeping food prices down,” Becker said. “Always pushing that envelope of technology is important.”

Bowman continues to educate the public about the agrivoltaics, as seen during Highland Community College Crop Research Field Day.
